2013 Tarzoo terror attack: SIA Kashmir secures interpol red corner notice against Hizbul terrorist

SRINAGAR: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has obtained an Interpol Red Corner Notice against designated Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo in connection with a 2013 terror case, officials said on Saturday.According to officials, the Interpol Red Corner Notice marks a major breakthrough in the investigation into the 2013 terrorist attack in the Tarzoo area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir, which claimed the lives of four Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel.

"In a breakthrough in its sustained counter-terrorism eiorts, the SIA Kashmir has secured an Interpol Red Corner Notice (RCN) against designated Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo alias Fayaz alias Sajad," the officials said.Officials said Kandoo, a resident of Kraltang in Sopore, has been an active member and commander of the proscribed terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen since 2010.They added that, due to his sustained involvement in terrorist activities, the Government of India designated him an individual terrorist under the law in October 2022.(With inputs from PTI)Stay updated with the latest Srinagar news.
