These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of citations.press (the "Site"), operated by Citation Press ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What citations.press is

citations.press is a citation index - not a news publisher, wire service or original journalism outlet. We extract, structure and publish source-backed facts drawn from named publications and from brand-submitted press releases, each tied to a named person and a numeric claim. Every indexed fact links back to its original source. citations.press is the index, not the claimant.

We do not guarantee that AI systems, search engines or third parties will cite, rank or reference content from the Site. We make no warranty regarding accuracy of third-party source material.

2. Editorial review and publication

Content enters an editorial queue before publication. Only items marked approved appear on the public Site and in machine-readable feeds such as /citations.json. We may edit, reject or remove content at our discretion. Brand submissions are clearly labelled as such on the Site.

3. Attribution and third-party sources

All indexed facts are attributed to their original publication or submitting brand. When you reference material from citations.press, you should cite both citations.press and the original source linked on each page. We do not claim ownership of facts reported by third parties.

4. Acceptable use

You may browse the Site, follow links to original sources and share URLs for personal, editorial or research purposes. You must not:

  • misrepresent citations.press as the original publisher of third-party facts;
  • scrape, bulk-download or systematically harvest the Site in a way that impairs its operation;
  • use automated means to submit content, bypass moderation or probe security;
  • use the Site for unlawful, misleading or harmful purposes;
  • train machine-learning models on Site content without our prior written consent, except as permitted by applicable law or robots.txt.

Machine-readable feeds are provided for discovery and reference. Reasonable automated access consistent with our robots.txt is permitted; abusive or high-volume access may be blocked.

5. Press release submissions

If you use our press release submission service, you represent that:

  • you are authorised to submit the material on behalf of the named company or brand;
  • the submission is accurate to the best of your knowledge and not misleading;
  • you grant us a non-exclusive licence to extract, store, edit, display and index the submission and derived citation records;
  • publication is subject to editorial review and is not guaranteed;
  • approved brand submissions will be clearly labelled as brand submissions on the Site.

We may introduce fees for submission services; any applicable pricing will be shown before you confirm payment. During promotional periods, submission may be offered free of charge as stated on the Site.

6. Accuracy, disclaimers and corrections

We strive for source clarity and accurate attribution, but we do not warrant that every indexed fact is complete, current or free from error - particularly where it reflects third-party reporting. The Site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Nothing on the Site constitutes financial, legal, medical or other professional advice. If you believe indexed content contains a factual error, please request a correction. We will review credible reports and may update, annotate or remove affected entries.

7. Intellectual property

The citations.press name, logo, site design, selection and arrangement of indexed material and original editorial framing are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Verbatim excerpts and facts attributed to third parties remain subject to the rights of their original publishers.

Republication of substantial portions of the Site or commercial reuse of our structured citation export, requires our prior written permission unless permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Citation Press and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill or business opportunity arising from your use of - or inability to use - the Site or any linked third-party content.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Site shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) EUR 100. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

9. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Site or contacting us, you acknowledge that we will process information as described there and as needed to operate the service.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after revised Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the changes. Material changes may also be noted on the homepage.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Reykjavík, Iceland, except where mandatory consumer protection rules require otherwise.
