If you're tempted to book a holiday, plan for early October as towards the end of the month there can start to be some light rainfall.

As for the beaches? Tigaki beach is the highest rated by visitors on Tripadvisor thanks to the beach's cleanliness, and plethora of sunloungers and sunbeds available for hire if you want to make a full day of it. The beach is also just a stone's throw from the bars, restaurants and shops, but it's still a little quieter than other parts of the island if you're after a more relaxed atmosphere.

Another popular spot is Agios Stefanos Beach with its golden sands and swim-friendly clear waters, not to mention you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas.

However if you're after somewhere that looks straight out of the Caribbean, then Paradise Beach needs to be on your radar. Think turquoise waters, unspoiled fine sands, and a lush green backdrop that wouldn't be out of place in a storybook.

For those who want a bit of nightlife, Kos Town delivers; it has heaps of bars, restaurants and clubs, while history buffs can get their fill in the daytime thanks to the breathtaking medieval architecture and landmarks including the Castle of the Knights or the ruins to be found at the Ancient Agora.

Getting to Kos is fairly straightforward too, with the likes of British Airways, easyJet, Jet2 and TUI all offering direct routes to the Greek hotspot, with fares from £73 according to Skyscanner.
