The Mayor of London has said he is living ‘rent-free in Donald Trump’s head’ after the US president called him ‘grossly incompetent, and a bad person’.

Trump launched into a usual rant against Sadiq Khan yesterday, calling him a ‘horrible representative for the UK’ while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office.

Sadiq Khan has managed to brush off the comments, dismissing it as a ‘silly crush’.

He told Metro: ‘Another day, another example of President Trump’s obsession with me. He’s clearly got a man crush on me.

The comments came after London won the Lee Kuan Yew Prize as the world’s best city. It is a prestigious award in urban planning, and was awarded to London in Singapore.

Sir Sadiq’s spat with Trump dates back to at least 2015, when the Labour politician condemned the then presidential hopeful’s suggestion that Muslims should be banned from travelling to the US.

After Mr Khan’s election in 2016, the mayor described Mr Trump’s views on Islam as ‘ignorant’, prompting the US tycoon to challenge him to an IQ test.

The row intensified following the 2017 London Bridge terror attack when Mr Trump said: At least seven dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed!”.

Sir Sadiq had actually said the public should not be alarmed by an increased police presence in the wake of the atrocity.

He spoke about Trump’s crush on him as he launched London’s first-ever heat plan today in Islington.
