Pianist Michael Boriskin is counting down to the next millenium with a fascinating retrospective called "Centuryview," looking back at a century of change at the piano keyboard. We'll hear how he began his first concert with the only pieces the late Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski (VEE-told loot-oh-SWAHF-skee) ever wrote for solo piano: Two Etudes, from 1941, begun as a series a la Chopin, but abandoned after warfare intervened. Recorded in concert at the Bing Theatre at the L.A. Country Museum of Art. (Alpine Recordings)
