The James Bond film series has gripped film fans for decades, but nothing made a statement quite like this one, which is screening on ITV tonight.
While it was the 23rd addition to the iconic franchise, this 2012 film made waves in the entertainment world and continues to wow fans to this day as they continue to claim it's their 'favourite'.

The release of Skyfall, the third Bond film that Daniel Craig starred in, was a monumental moment in time, as it became a box office boom, generating 1.1 billion dollars worldwide. It was the 14th film in the series to hit that billion mark, but this time around, with the rise of social media, the buzz felt different, and it was there with good reason.
The film follows Daniel Craig as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond, who was shot in a botched mission in Istanbul and has been missing ever since. While the rest of the world presumes he's dead, a cyber-terrorist attack on the MI6 headquarters means he returns to his role in order to protect M, played by Judi Dench.
Bond sets out on a mission to hunt down the man behind the attack, Raoul Silva, before he conducts his final revenge plan. Playing the ultimate Bond villain is Spanish actor Javier Bardem, a role in which viewers have given much praise.
One fan's review on Rotten Tomatoes reads: "Skyfall enriches the traditional Bond formula by adding genuine psychological depth and a welcome sense of consequence. It explores the cost of Bond's life without sacrificing the thrills, resulting in one of the series' most thoughtful and emotionally resonant entries."
Another viewer shared: "Peak Bond never really goes out of style. Energetic as ever! High-voltage action at full throttle."
Following the film's release, it was nominated for an impressive five Academy Awards, of which it won two, and went on to become the seventh highest-grossing film of all time.
It was, at the time, the highest-grossing James Bond to exist, and the buzz around the film was amplified by the original soundtrack by Adele. The song Skyfall, which accompanied the film, was nominated for and won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
Many consider this to be their favourite of the modern-day Bonds, as one person wrote: "I have two favourite Bonds; the original Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. This is possibly the best Bond ever made. Craig brings true humanity to the character, Judi Dench is a tremendous 'M' and Javier Bardem is a superb villain. This is the best of Craig's Bonds."
Like any Bond film, it features 'Bond Girls', and this 2012 addition involves Severine, played by Berenice Marlohe, and Eve Moneypenny, played by Naomie Harris. Although it is Judi Dench's character M that acts as the focal point to the story, viewers have praised her performance as 'tremendous'.
Another viewer claimed that the film is an "awesome instalment of 007". They continued: "A tightly contained storyline focusing inwards, deeply intertwined. My favourite of Daniel Craig’s so far."
You can watch the blockbuster hit that is Skyfall on your TV screens tonight, Thursday, as it airs at 10.45pm on ITV.
