It goes without saying that capri pants are something of a marmite look. If you find yourself unable to get on board, you don't need us to tell you why. Amongst all of this season's trending trouser silhouettes, they're undoubtedly the hardest to style – even harder than balloon leg bottoms.

Initially, it might seem like picking the right shoes to wear with your capris is the difficult thing stopping you from rocking the trend. But actually, we'd argue that pairing the perfect top half to your cropped trousers is a much trickier task than finding footwear. A cropped baby tee feels too Y2K, while an oversized T-shirt can only ever look casual, even with a pair of heeled thong sandals on your feet.

If you've been wanting to get in on the look but have been struggling with just how to wear capri pants, we've got the answer – a coordinating set. Co-ords instantly take the effort out of getting dressed by giving you an all-in-one outfit ready to go. Sure, you can style each piece separately too, but they work their hardest and have the most visual impact when worn together.

See Next's Polka Dot Milkmaid Puff Sleeve Top and matching Polka Dot Capri Cropped Length Trousers as the perfect example. Opting for a black-backed design with white polka dots instantly makes this set more wearable, as does the fitted silhouette of the top that balances the proportions of the capris that hit just below the knee. However, the real beauty in this co-ord is in the details, like the fabric-covered buttons dotted all down the front of the top, or the subtle gathering that gives extra volume to the puff sleeves.

Perhaps polka dots aren't for you, or you want something a little more muted to try out capris for the first time? Below, find more of our favourite coordianting capris sets to shop now:
