Energy regulator Ofgem has increased the price cap from today until the end of September by 13%. According to Ofgem 'from July, the price cap will rise by £18 a month for the average household using both electricity and gas'.
With this in mind, shoppers are turning to smart plugs, a nifty device that helps consumers with consumption through monitoring with an app and smarter control. Smart plugs track exactly how much power connected devices consume and eliminate 'vampire power' (electricity consumed by devices on standby) by allowing users to turn off devices remotely.
New customers of Argos can then purchase the plug as normal through their TopCashback account, essentially bringing it down to £2.54 after cashback. New members of TopCashback and existing customers of Argos can also save a considerable amount, getting it for £2.84. The prices calculated include free click and collect, with standard delivery being £4.95.
The Wiz smart plug can make any socket smart. Simply plug in an ordinary light or appliance, and they can be controlled through a smartphone (iOS and Android) or voice. This model is Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri compatible.
It operates over Wi-Fi and the Wiz Connected app. There's no need to worry that lights or appliances have been left on after leaving the house, because they can be checked and turned off through a smartphone.
With schedules, customers can also turn devices on and off to fit a daily routine and save energy without having to lift a finger. From lamps to fans, coffee machines and more, the Wiz Wi-Fi Smart Plug works with devices that only need power on to function.
