Aldi is adding three new gadgets to its middle aisle in days that are perfect for the next heatwave - including a £14.99 "genius" fan alternative. It comes after Brits faced sweltering temperatures throughout last week, with Met Office red and amber warnings for extreme heat issued over consecutive days.

Millions of Brits faced sleepless muggy nights, and uncomfortably high temperatures at home in the daytime as temperature records for June were smashed, with the mercury rising as high as 37.3°C at Santon Downham in Suffolk on Friday, June 26. Temperatures have eased off for the time being, with households given some relief by cool Atlantic breezes. However, the Met Office forecast for this summer indicates that there is an increased chance of heatwaves, so it's worth considering ways to prepare before any further scorching spells.

On Thursday, July 2, Aldi is adding a range of products to help deal with the heat to its Specialbuys range. Items being added to the "middle aisle" include its Fan with Flexible Tripod (£6.99) which "serves as the ultimate versatile companion, perfect for clipping onto desks, bedside tables or on the go".

Among the other products you'll soon see on shelves are its "genius" Portable Air Cooler with LED (£14.99), a "sleek gadget" that "uses innovative water and ice evaporation technology to actively lower room temperature, providing a blissful chill without the shocking energy bills of traditional air conditioning".

"With a sleek LED touch display and three speed settings, it’s the hot weather hero every home needs," the supermarket adds.

If you've got a slightly bigger budget, there's also the Globe Fan with Multi-direction (£39.99), described as a "game-changer" that circulates "a cool breeze throughout the entire room".

"Thanks to its clever 360-degree auto-rotating function, hot air is banished from every corner of the room," the chain adds.

"Plus, with three handy modes – including a gentle ‘Sleep’ mode, a ‘Natural Wind’ setting, and even a ‘Drying’ mode – it’s the perfect all-rounder."

The items will be available in stores from July 2, but only while stocks last.
