Argos shoppers rushing to save £40 on Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of price increase
The Nintendo Switch 2 is about to get a price increase, beginning on September 1. Nintendo has announced that the cost of the standalone Switch 2 console is increasing from the recommended retail price of £395.99 to £419.99, which equates to around £24.
Fortunately, however, Argos is selling the console at a discounted price ahead of the price increase. Indeed, the UK retailer is currently selling the Nintendo Switch 2 for £380. That's £40 less than the new price of £419.99, which is probably why the console is proving so popular on the Argos website.

The console is listed as 'Most Popular', 'Selling Fast' and 'Trending' on the Argos website, where it has been viewed more than 1,000 times in the past 24-hours, and has been added to dozens of baskets.
The good thing about ordering from Argos is that you can pick it up on the same day as you place an order. In some cases, Argos even does same-day home delivery.
Furthermore, Argos offers multiple payment schemes, including buy now and pay later options like Klarna.
If you would rather purchase the console with a game, then Argos is also selling a bundle containing the console and a copy of Pokemon Pokopia for £429.99.
The Nintendo Switch 2 makes a number of improvements over the original console, including a bigger screen and superior JoyCons.
The Switch 2 display measures in at 7.9-inches and comes with HDR support and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.
The JoyCons are bigger than their predecessors, and can also be used like a PC mouse. This makes them ideal for genres like first-person shooters, strategy and classic adventure games.
From 01/09, Nintendo Switch 2's price will be revised from £395.99/€469,99 to £419.99/€499,99 on Nintendo Store.

The console is also backwards compatible with the original Switch, which means you could always sell your old console to fund the new purchase.
Explaining the decision to raise the price of the console, Nintendo blamed ‘changes in market conditions’ and ‘global business outlook’.
“We sincerely apologise for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding,” Nintendo said.
PS5 and Xbox Series price increases were far more extreme, with the latter shooting up from £499 to £669. The PS5 Pro, on the other hand, increased from £699.99 to £789.99.
