Arsenal head of sports science and performance Tom Allen is the latest member of the club's backroom team set to leave the club.

Allen is responsible for first-team performance across sports science, physical output, nutrition and performance support.

The practitioner, who joined from Aston Villa in 2017, joins head of medical Dr Zaf Iqbal and lead performance coach Sam Wilson in leaving the club just weeks after their first Premier League title in 22 years.

Despite their title win, Arsenal suffered with major injury concerns last season with a number of key players missing for long spells.

The departures arrive as part of a review involving external medical expert Joaquin Acedo, who has a relationship with manager Mikel Arteta originating back to when the pair worked together at Everton.

Sources close to the revamp claim that Acedo's influence on the changes this summer has been significant.
