The victim was attacked in Carlton Road, near to King Edward Park, Sneinton, on Friday evening and suffered potentially life-altering injuries, police said.
Three 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the early hours of Monday, while a 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Det Sgt Paul Crofts said: "We completely appreciate news of this stabbing will have caused great shock and concern to the community but hope this update provides the public with some reassurance.
"On that note, we will be continuing to provide a visible police presence in and around this area over the next few days, so would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to our officers.
