In a bid to maintain friendly relations and lay spirits to rest, the Queensland Museum returns thousands of artefacts and sacred objects to Papua New Guinea (PNG). The objects and artefacts were taken from PNG for safe keeping by the Colonial Administrator, Dir William McGregor in the 1880s. The consignment makes it the largest ever transfer from a museum to a country of origin of cultural heritage material in the history of the world.
