Barry Manilow has sparked concern among fans after footage from one of his latest concerts prompted a wave of reactions online. The 83-year-old music icon is currently touring the US following a run of UK shows, with clips from a recent performance of his 1976 chart-topper 'I Write the Songs' quickly spreading across social media. In the video, the veteran singer appears noticeably still as he performs, prompting some viewers to question how he looked on stage. After the footage was shared on X, formerly Twitter, it attracted a slew of comments. One person wrote: "Barry, it's time to hang it up." Another user commented: "He doesn’t look so great, just his mouth moves. But the voice is still holding."

Others also weighed in, with one writing: "He is well preserved, I will say that." Another simply asked: "Oh, Barry, are you ok?" However, many fans were quick to defend the Grammy-winning singer, praising him for continuing to perform more than six decades after launching his career.

One supporter responded: "Give the guy some grace. He is a talented singer and songwriter. If he can still perform, and if people pay to see him, let them enjoy themselves. Good for him, for continuing to share his music."

Another added: "He's 83 FFS. A lot of people don't make it that long, and if they do, they're in a home. He's up on stage, and yes, not what he was, but... he's doin' it. Give the guy a break."

The reaction comes as Manilow continues what is being billed as The Last Concerts, with the tour due to conclude in January.

Earlier this month, the Copacabana singer also made headlines during a concert in Liverpool after a fan rushed the stage while he was performing. The concertgoer appeared to place a note and pen on the piano in an apparent attempt to get an autograph before security intervened.

After the fan was removed, Manilow joked to the audience: "Throw him out … I'm just kidding," before quipping that he must be "irresistible."

The legendary performer, whose career has spanned more than 50 years, remains one of the world's best-selling recording artists with hits including Mandy, Can't Smile Without You, Copacabana (At the Copa) and I Write the Songs.

Earlier this month, Barry said an emotional goodbye to fans at the O2 Arena in London as he played his final ever UK show. In a poignant twist the night also marked the icon's 83rd birthday.

The star was concluding a short six date tour which began in Glasgow on June 9 and took in cities such as Liverpool and Cardiff. The shows marked his first performances since his lung cancer diagnosis just days before Christmas in December 2025.

His health issues and his age appear to make it inevitable this will be the last time he ever performs on UK soil. He seemed to confirm this definitively at the end when he walked out and said: "Thanks for all of the years, for all the fun, for all the memories. I'll never forget you. I'll never forget you."
