Before he wrote his Symphony No. 3 in the mid-1970's, Henryk Gorecki experimented with his ancient/modern style synthesis as early as 1963, with his "Three Pieces in Olden Style." A recent CD pairs the pieces with a new recording of the Third Symphony. We'll hear the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Antoni Wit (AHN-toh-nee VIT), perform the last of the Three Pieces by Gorecki. (Naxos 8.550822)
