Bends divers airlifted from sea off Swanage

Two divers had to be rescued off the Dorset coast after they suffered a suspected attack of the bends.

The pair had been diving in the sea near Swanage when it is believed they surfaced too quickly.

The coastguard helicopter was alerted shortly after 1100 BST and the casualties were airlifted from their dive vessel and taken to a recompression unit in Poole.

Coastguards met the vessel at Swanage Pier to establish what had happened.
