2: BERTRAND TAVERNIER is considered one of the most acclaimed French film makers since the New Wave artists appeared in the late 50s. The New Wave method was marked by relying heavily on handheld cameras and improvisational acting. Tavernier gained fame as an important post-New Wave film artist. Probably his best known work to Americans is "Round Midnight." Tavernier is currently touring various cities as part of the Lumiere Institute's celebration of 100 years of motion pictures.
