A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash on the A701 in the Scottish Borders at the weekend.

The single-vehicle accident happened on the road near Tweedsmuir on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police confirmed that the bike rider, a 52-year-old man from East Kilbride, had suffered multiple injuries.

The spokesman said the man was taken to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital for treatment.
