Police searching for the uncle of a schoolboy who was murdered in South Lanarkshire have recovered a body from the River Clyde.

Colin Ferguson was last seen in Belmont Drive, East Kilbride, at 1400 BST on 11 May, close to where a shrine was created to his nephew Jack Frew.

Police said a post-mortem examination would be carried out but the death did not appear to be "suspicious".

Jack Frew, 16, was found dead in woodland in East Kilbride on 7 May.

A police spokesman said: "Strathclyde Police can confirm that the body of a man believed to be 46-year-old Colin Ferguson was recovered from the River Clyde at around 1455 hours this afternoon."

He said the post-mortem examination would be carried out in due course and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The body was found in Glasgow city centre, close to the King George V Bridge.

Craig Roy, 17, has appeared on petition in private at Hamilton Sheriff Court charged with murdering Jack.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody for further examination.

Mr Ferguson left his home in Owen Avenue, East Kilbride, on 11 May but did not say where he was going or when he would return.
