Richard Hampson, 56, of Port Haverigg, Millom, was last seen walking from Haverigg towards Port Haverigg holiday village on the morning of 11 June.
Cumbria Police said a member of the public reported finding a body on fells at Black Combe, which Mr Hampson was known to frequent.
A spokesman said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
He added: "Police officers and Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team attended and recovered the body on Sunday.
"Police are working to formally identify the man and inform immediate family members.
