Bollywood director Gustad sentenced over aide's death

Bollywood film-maker Kaizad Gustad has been found guilty and sentenced to a month in jail in connection with the death of his British assistant director six years ago.

Nadia Khan, 26, was hit by a train while standing on a live track during the shooting of a film in Mumbai.

But Gustad will not be sent to prison as he had served a month in jail during the trial.

Five of his other co-accused have been acquitted.

The verdict came after a lengthy trial when a more serious charge of culpable homicide was changed into "rash and negligent act".

Police said that the crew did not have permission to film on the tracks.

Gustad had initially told police that Ms Khan had died in a road accident.

The court in Mumbai also fined the director $1,500 (£1,000).

Gustad came into limelight after making the film Boom, starring Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
