Bretford's director of football Phil Giles has complimented Frank Onyeka's "fantastic commitment, work-rate and loyalty", after the midfielder's permanent move to newly promoted Coventry was confirmed.

The 28-year-old midfielder initially signed on loan in January with a clause ensuring a permanent switch should the Sky Blues achieve promotion.

Onyeka signed from Danish side Midtjylland in July 2021 in the summer after the Bees secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time.

He went on to make 87 appearances for the club, but was hampered by injuries which prevented him from making a greater impact.

"Frank has been with us since our first Premier League game, and has always shown fantastic commitment, work-rate and loyalty during his time here," said Giles.

"Ultimately, he probably didn't start as many games as he'd have liked, which is why the opportunity for him to move to Coventry made sense for all parties.

"He made a big contribution to their promotion and has earned his chance at becoming a regular Premier League starter with them. Frank will always be welcome back at Brentford and we wish him well for next season with Coventry."
