A man has pleaded not guilty to handling stolen goods after hundreds of artefacts were taken from a museum.

Avon and Somerset Police said more than 600 artefacts were thought to be taken from Bristol Museum's British Empire and Commonwealth Collection on Cumberland Road in the early hours of 25 September 2025.

The items included military badges and pins from the East India Company and carved Buddha statues.

Dean Hall, 41, from Redcliffe, was later charged with handling stolen goods, a charge he denied when he appeared at Bristol Crown Court earlier.

Hall is next due to appear in court on 18 March 2027.
