Budget airline launching new UK flights after 14 year gap with cheap promise
A budget airline has announced the launch of new UK flights, 14 years since it last offered UK journeys. The low-cost airline has also confirmed that tickets will be getting cheaper as fuel costs ease.
AirAsia X is making a UK comeback with affordable long-haul flights returning to the UK. The Malaysian airline previously offered Brits journeys from Kuala Lumpur to London before stopping services in 2012. Now, the airline has confirmed its relaunch, offering the journeys with stops via Bahrain.

The prices are affordable with the help of the stopover in Bahrain and flying from London Gatwick instead of London Heathrow airport.
Whie the route was due to launch last week, on Friday 26 June, this has been postponed due to the Middle East conflict. The journeys are now set to commence in 2 months’ time, on Thursday 27 August.
AirAsia X said that any passengers affected by the postponement would be offered refunds or can have their bookings rescheduled.
According to Air Traveler Club, the flights will take place four times a week until Monday November 2, when the journeys will then be offered daily.
Flights from Kuala Lumpur will leave late at night, at 10pm local time, stopping in Bahrain for two hours and arriving at London Gatwick airport around 7.30am the following day.
The flights will be on an Airbus A330-300 with the aircraft holding between 285 and 377 passengers.
Pierre-Hugues Schmit, Chief Executive at London Gatwick Airport has said: “The arrival of AirAsia X and flights to Kuala Lumpur is fantastic news for London Gatwick passengers.
“The new daily service will provide excellent opportunities to visit the city or onward connectivity across the region – ideal for holidaymakers, businesses and the many British‑Malaysian families who will now have even better options for visiting friends and relatives.”
Bo Lingam, Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia X also commented.
He said: “Our return to London marks a significant milestone for AirAsia X and we’re excited to commence our operations at London Gatwick this June.”
