A woman who was found murdered at a house in Manchester was the mother of three young children, police have confirmed.

The body of Stacey Quigley, 24, was found by paramedics in the bath at a property in Glenhurst Road, Burnage, at 0900 BST on Tuesday, police said.

A post-mortem examination found she died from multiple injuries to her face and neck.

A man, 27, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Ms Quigley leaves behind two boys, aged five and three, and a six-month-old girl, police said.

She was last seen alive at her home by her sister on Monday at 1600 BST.

Det Ch Insp Jon Chadwick said: "Stacey was part of large, loving family and leaves behind three very young children who are unlikely to completely understand just how big an impact this awful incident will have on their lives.

"We are trying to establish exactly how she died and the events leading up to her murder.

"There is a window of about 17 hours from when Stacey was dropped off at home by her sister at 4pm on the bank holiday Monday to when she was found dead at 9am the following morning.

"I am keen to hear from anyone who saw her before she died or anyone else with any information that can help me."

Police said incidents such as this were very rare and said patrols had been stepped up in the area.
