Callum Connolly: Bradford City sign Stockport County midfielder

Bradford City have made their fourth summer signing with the addition of Stockport midfielder Callum Connolly on a two-year contract.

The 28-year-old, who was part of England's World Cup-winning Under-20s side in 2017, was released by County at the end of the season after two seasons with the club.

A product of Everton's academy, Connolly also has experience with Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool.

"I am delighted to be here," Connolly told the club website, external. "As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew it was the right place for me. It is a massive club with a great fanbase. It was a no-brainer to sign for Bradford City.

"Speaking to a manager who has a clear plan of where he wants the team to be, it gives a player motivation. At 28 years old, I am ready to kick on here."

Bradford City missed out on promotion from League One in the play-offs and manager Graham Alexander is hoping the signing of Connolly will help them take the next step.

"Callum will bring us great versatility and experience of both League One and the Championship," said Alexander.

"He has very good defensive qualities with composure on the ball to progress the play. Callum is very competitive with good character and he will fit right into what we have created here."
