A star from The Yorkshire Vet has opened up about the inspirational reason she shaved her head. The Channel 5 series follows the staff and patients of The Skeldale Veterinary Centre, which features Julian Norton and Peter Wright. In an episode airing Tuesday, August 20, clinical manager Chloe was supported by Peter as he helped shave her head.

Chloe was raising money for cancer charities after her grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. “I want to make it more of a thing that men go to the doctors, the younger the better get tested,” she explained. “There’s nothing I can do now to help grandad, but I just want to help other people.”

As Peter did the honours, shaving Chloe’s head, she admitted: “It’s the most bizarre feeling in the world.”

Peter added: “Joking apart, I think you’re being very brave.”

The Channel 5 narrator went on to reveal that Chloe had suffered her own health battle, having a cyst removed from her brain 15 years ago.

As she pointed out the scar on her scalp, Peter told her: “Never mind the scar, I think it accentuates your beauty.”

He added: “This is for a fantastic cause, and I just hope that people do come in to see Chloe and contribute to something that will kill thousands of men every year.”

Chloe had previously been supported by followers when the veterinary practice raised awareness of her charity work on social media.

A post read: “Chloe's done it!! Earlier this morning Choe (with the help of Peter and Chloe's mum) braved the shave all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.”

One fan replied: “Brilliant Chloe well done. Everyone is proud of you xx.”

Another said: “She absolutely suits that! Well done lass!”

A third echoed: “Well done Chlo your an inspiration to all of us.”

Chloe also shared on her Just Giving Page: “By Braving the Shave I am doing my bit to raise awareness, sharing my story and motivation on social media, raising some money (hopefully!) to support research and by being able to tell everyone who looks at my bald head and asks why the reason.

“And if that can save just one person from a late diagnosis and one family from the pain of watching a loved one undergo cancer treatment and maybe fade away then how cool will that be!”

The Yorkshire Vet is available to watch on My5.
