Formjet
The alternative software firm has appointed Andrew Monk, the former chief executive of stockbroker Blue Oar, as its new chief executive.

Monk previously founded and jointly ran Oriel Securities, which, like Blue Oar, he named after his rowing exploits at Oxford University. Blue Oar has since been rebranded as Astaire under new chief executive Edward Vandyk.

Current Formjet chief executive Tony Lee is to become group finance director.

Canaccord Adams
The broker has hired Giles Fitzpatrick as president of its UK operations, effective from next week.

Fitzpatrick is a veteran of the industry, having most recently been chief executive of Fox-Pitt Kelton.

He also previously spent five years on the global equities management committee at ABN Amro, firstly as global head of trading and later as head of European equities.

Derek Fulton has joined the investment boutique from investment manager Aberdeen Asset Management, where he was ex-head of global closed end fixed income portfolios.

In his new role, he will be a board director and the firm’s chief investment officer, with overall responsibility for asset allocation, strategy selection, portfolio construction and portfolio management.

Hawkpoint
Alexis Thieriet has been appointed as a director at the corporate advisory and private equity firm.

Thieriet joins from UBS in London, where he was an executive director in the financial institutions group, focusing on corporate finance advisory work for both the French and the financial technology markets. Prior to that, he had already spent three years working at Hawkpoint.

SBJ Global Risks
The Lloyd’s and international insurance broker has appointed Steve Ford and Simon Laycock to form a new binding authority team.

The pair both have over 20 years of experience in the London insurance market and specialise in North American and international non-marine binder business.

Augusta & Co
The merchant bank has appointed Paul Kim as assistant director, joining the leveraged finance team in Frankfurt.

Kim joins from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he was vice president in the global banking leveraged finance division in London and in Frankfurt.

Spice
The utility support services business has appointed Martin Towers and Julie Baddeley as non-executive directors.

Towers, 56, was previously finance director of Kelda Group, while Baddeley, 58, is a non-executive director of Greggs, Camelot Group and the Department of Health.
