Cornwall Council will have to make an additional £10m of cuts in the current financial year.

The government has told the council to make a total of more than £13m of savings.

Late last week the government told Cornwall Council it had to save the extra money.

Council leader Alec Robertson said the cuts demanded "decisive action" and failing to act now would lead to more difficult decisions in the future.

Mr Robertson said that the council would be carefully considering the implications of the budget before making any decisions on services.

"A number of the measures announced today will create significant challenges for the council but we are committed to working with the unions and our other partners to ensure that we do the best we can with our diminishing resources."
