Extra cash has been earmarked by East Yorkshire council to repair roads damaged by the severe winter weather.
The authority said the freezing weather had caused an increase in potholes and led to structural defects on footways and bridges.
Funding of £650,000 was approved when the council set its budget in February but a further £1.6m has now been set aside.
Councillor Steve Parnaby said maintaining highways was a priority.
He said: "Having a good road network is important to keep the East Riding moving and working.
"It is an issue of great concern to residents and I want to reassure them that it is also a priority for the council and we will put in as many resources as we have at our disposal to maintain the network."
