Crews have returned to the scene of a large wildfire in Derbyshire for a seventh day.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) was called to the blaze on Tintwistle Moor, above Woodhead Road in Glossop, at 22:11 BST on Wednesday.

In an update on Tuesday, the fire service said efforts were now concentrated on the wooded south side and other areas of the moorland were being monitored.

DFRS previously said about 200 hectares (494 acres) of land had been affected by the blaze.

DFRS said water supplier United Utilities was supporting the large-scale operation with a helicopter, one of two being used to drop water on to the fire.

On Monday afternoon, DFRS said "strong progress" had been made.

A spokesperson said: "The western flank now has very few hotspots, while the eastern flank, which was our main concern [on Sunday] due to a 600-metre smoke plume, has been substantially reduced and there has been no further spread.

"The woodland on the southern flank remains a key area of concern because thick smoke has built up and is lingering throughout the area."

It added that cooler weather was also helping firefighting efforts.

Members of the public are still being urged to avoid the area.
