A 70-year-old cyclist who died in hospital after a crash in Essex has been named by police.

Brian Ward, of Springfield Gardens, Ongar, collided with a Mercedes van on Houblons Hill in Epping on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow but died later.

The van driver, a 52-year-old from Harlow, was unhurt. Essex Police closed off the road to carry out an investigation.
