Police believe a man seen on a bike moments before a teenager was fatally attacked in Liverpool may be able to help with their investigation.

Neil Murphy, 18, was beaten in what police called a "sustained attack" in Marie Curie Avenue, Bootle, on the afternoon of Saturday 5 June.

The cyclist was captured on CCTV riding along Henry Hickman Close just moments before the attack took place.

Two men have already been charged with his murder.

Police have released a photograph of the cyclist, who is wearing a distinctive hooped top and is thought to be local to the area.

Detectives would also like to speak to the occupants of a small red car which nearly collided with a red Audi at the junction of St Oswalds Lane and Henry Hickman Close at about 0330 BST on the day of the attack.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
