Daniel Radcliffe meets fans, but people can
Thrust into the limelight aged just 12 when he made his first appearance as Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has enjoyed a remarkable career in the following decades. The release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001 made the London-born actor a household name, and he went on to appear as the Boy Who Lived seven more times over the next 10 years.
Following the release of the final film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part Two, in 2011, Daniel could have been forgiven for resting on his laurels. But he has instead taken on a series of varied roles on both stage and screen, and in 2024 won a Tony Award for musical Merrily We Roll Along. Most recently he appeared on Broadway in the one-man play Every Brilliant Thing, which earned him his second Tony nomination.

Ever-popular with fans, in a recent clip shared on Instagram Daniel can be seen in a black t-shirt and grey jeans, happily signing autographs and posing for selfies. But it was something else which caught fans' eyes.
The post was shared by Alona, known on social media as girlfromjerseycity, who has 758,000 followers on Instagram and regularly shares celebrity content. An overlaid caption read: "Daniel Radcliffe is cool and all... but can we discuss the bodyguard?" Alona added in the caption: "At this point, the bodyguard has his own fanbase."
The bodyguard, wearing a dark blue t-shirt, jeans, and sunglasses, is seen keeping a close eye on Daniel, while indicating to fans when it is their turn to approach him. And his chiselled good looks and bulging biceps had fans swooning.
One said: "Is the bodyguard single? Asking for a friend." Another wrote: "Hey Daniel, can you take a pic of me and your bodyguard. Thanks man."
Someone else replied: "Amazing how you have a famous Hollywood star, but all we see is his hulking, beautiful bodyguard."
Some compared him to True Blood heartthrob Alexander Skarsgård, while others applauded his efficiency at managing Daniel's throngs of fans.
One said: "His bodyguard is a pro. He's keeping awareness of all the surrounding up to identifying a kid waiting for a photo and helping his protectee engage with his fans in a healthy way that allows him to enjoy the best of stardom while being safe. Hats off to that guy."
While Daniel has always impressed on screen, it hasn't always been smooth sailing for the actor, now aged 36, who has spoken publicly about developing a drinking problem in his teens as a way of coping with the pressures of fame. He has been sober since 2013, and credits his partner, American actress Erin Darke, with whom he shares a son, with keeping him on the straight and narrow.
Speaking to the Mirror earlier this year he said: "She has been a huge part of my happiness - and having a child. There is something about being truly known and understood by another human being. That is why love exists. You can’t emphasise how wonderful that is.”
And he added, while he is grateful for the success the Harry Potter franchise brought him, he finds the films hard to watch. "I guess I have more time now for me in the early films," he said. "When I was 18 I would cringe watching the early ones. Now I think the early films are sweet and I cringe watching myself when I was 18.”
