‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ Nears Unusual Streaming Premiere On Both SVOD And PVOD
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is set to arrive on streaming this week in an unusual move, as the anime blockbuster will arrive on premium video on demand and streaming video on demand at the same time.
The simultaneous streaming release for the film, also known as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, marks the latest surprise move for the Sony Pictures Entertainment/Crunchyroll feature, which premiered in Japan over a year ago. Directed by Hikaru Kondô and Haruo Sotozaki, the film premiered in Japan on July 18, 2025, while the English dub of the film arrived in North American theaters on Sept. 12.
Rated R, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle follows Tanjiro, Nezuko and the Hashira into the Infinity Castle, where the Demon Slayer Corps must face the Upper Rank demons to begin the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji.
While SPE/Crunchyroll releases debut on Sony’s Crunchyroll streaming platform about five months after they premiere in theaters, the studios held back on the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle release in the home entertainment marketplace.
Instead, the film returned to theaters in Japan for the first time in the IMAX format on Feb. 6, but only played in two venues: the Grand Cinema Sunshine in Tokyo and 109 Cinemas Osaka Expo City in Osaka.
Then, a month later, on March 6, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle returned in theaters in the U.S. and Canada, but was only available to SCREENX theaters, which not only project the film on the screen, but on the side walls of the venue instead.
After the long wait, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will be available to watch at home in the U.S. on Tuesday, July 28, with a simultaneous release of the film on digital video via PVOD on digital platforms and SVOD on Crunchyroll.
A new listing Prime Video confirms" href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B0H1NGTZ5F?" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">on Prime Video confirms that the English dub of the film will be available for digital purchase on Tuesday for $19.99 and will also be available on Apple TV and Fandango at home. While the digital rental price isn’t listed, the rental is generally $5 less than purchase prices so viewers can expect to rent the film for 48 hours for $14.99.
Also on Tuesday, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will also begin streaming on Crunchyroll for subscribers. Three subscription packages for Crunchyroll are available. The Fan Tier for $9.99 per month offers access to Crunchyroll’s library, while Mega-Fan Tier, which is $13.99 per month offers streaming on up to four devices at a time.
Additionally, Crunchyroll has an Ultimate Fan Tier for $17.99 per month, which allows streaming on up to six devices at a time, has offline viewing capabilities and offers access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, which includes free games and other premiums.
While Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is still awaiting a release date for physical media copies, the film will be available to purchase on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan on Wednesday.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle had an enormously successful theatrical run, as it earned $136.9 million in North American theaters and $656.5 in international ticket sales for a global box office gross of $793.4 million against a $20 million production budget (before marketing), according to the New York Times.
