Drivers caught speeding at nearly 130mph
Three young drivers have been charged with dangerous driving after they were caught racing at speeds approaching 130mph on a Fife road.
Two Kirkcaldy men, aged 21 and 22, and a 24-year-old man from Markinch, were caught on the Thornton bypass on the A92 on Saturday at 2330 BST.
They will be reported to the procurator fiscal and face court at a later date.
A 19-year-old Leslie man was also caught allegedly doing 114mph on the Thornton Bypass on the A92.
In a third incident, a young driver who had only passed his test in March 2010 was stopped on Tuesday allegedly driving at more than 100mph on the A92 near Kirkcaldy West Interchange.
Ch Insp David McCulloch, of Fife Constabulary, said: "These incidents become more evident as we approach the better weather and the summer months.
"Although not exclusively, these incidents predominantly involve young drivers.
"The margins for error at such speeds are very small and there is a very fine line between safety and causing death or serious injury, either to yourself or others, when you drive in such a manner.
"Of further concern was that 10 young drivers were stopped over the weekend and reported for failing to wear seat belts."
