Two Dunmurry men have been remanded in custody charged with having £30,000 of cannabis with intent to supply.

Bernard Patrick Sheridan, 37, of Glenbawn Avenue, and Stephen Thomas Fitzgerald, 27, of Colinvale, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court.

An officer said police stopped a BMW car and found cannabis in the boot.

They were also charged with cultivating cannabis plants in their homes. Police found 12 cannabis plants during follow-up searches, the court heard.

Objecting to the granting of bail, the police constable said there was a risk of reoffending to "recoup the substantial losses".

He said that Mr Fitzgerald was originally from the Republic of Ireland and there would be a risk of him fleeing.

The judge remanded them in custody to appear in court again by videolink next month.
