An electrical fault has caused major disruption for traffic on one of East Renfrewshire's busiest roads.

Police and fire crews closed Busby Road at Clarkston Toll on Tuesday morning after reports of a smouldering cable.

Scottish Power said engineers had been working through the night to isolate the supply and make repairs. The road re-opened at about 1030 BST.

The firm apologised for inconvenience to road users and the 45 customers who are without power while work continues.
