Emmerdale fans 'solve' DS Thea Ramsden's real identity and it's big

The arrival of DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) has got a lot of Emmerdale fans talking – and she’s barely been here five minutes!

The detective headed to the village a few days ago to investigate the death of Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker). As she got to work questioning Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), Ramsden also had to speak with Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy).

It was during this interview that a few fans started to wonder if Serena and Thea knew more about each other than they were letting on.

The theory was confirmed in yesterday’s episode, as the two characters were seen hugging.

Star Casey Al-Shaqsy explained more about their dynamic: ‘They are very, very close friends. Serena’s sort of journey into the village was to see her family. She does want to get closer with her family. But she’s mentioned to her best mate, “I’m going to Emmerdale”. And she’s gone “I need you to do me a favour”.’

The favour Thea asked of Serena has seen her break into Home Farm multiple times and yesterday, we learnt that Thea wants to find something on Kim Tate (Claire King) that can bring her down.

Interestingly, after Thea interacted with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), she made it clear that she doesn’t think he is the ‘devil’ – she thinks Kim is.

Taking to social media, plenty of fans of the ITV soap are now convinced that Thea is actually Jean Tate, Zoe Tate’s daughter.

Over on X, Sam shared: ‘Is DS Ramsden and Serena trying to get to Kim Tate? A shot in the dark …I think she is Jean Tate!’.

There’s a chance that Thea is in the village to get revenge on Kim on behalf of mum Zoe, who hated Kim because of how badly she treated her dad Frank Tate.

The only thing is, if Thea is Jean Tate, why didn’t Joe recognise her? He’s been very focused on his stag do and upcoming wedding, so it would definitely be very Joe Tate to not realise who he was talking to. Plus, he left the village for New Zealand with young Jean and Zoe way back in 2005. A lot of time has passed since then, faces change.

You’ll remember that when Serena was recently in Home Farm, she was looking at a picture of Jamie Tate, Kim’s son. When Ross Barton (Michael Parr) started telling her about the horror Jamie had inflicted on Kim while living in the village, Serena was intrigued.

It’s possible this was another subtle hint, as Jamie is Jean’s uncle. Serena’s sudden interest in his story could therefore be more significant than it initially appeared, if she already knows who he is.

For now, we don’t know exactly who Thea is or what she wants from Kim. If she really is Jean, however, her arrival could be about to bring a very old Tate family story back to life, and Kim may soon discover that her past has come back to haunt her.
