A former teacher and boarding master has denied committing sexual offences against five boys in the 1980s and 1990s.

David Wright, 79, of Longwell Green, is charged with 14 counts of indecent assault, alleged to have happened when he was a teacher, boarding master and later a non-teaching employee at Queen Elizabeth's Hospital (QEH) independent school in Bristol.

He appeared at Bristol Crown Court earlier where he entered not guilty pleas to all 14 offences.

Wright has been released on unconditional bail and is next set to appear in court in May for a further hearing before a trial in November 2027.

"Your case is being adjourned for two further hearings. You need to attend those hearings," said Judge Anna Richardson.

Avon and Somerset Police said an investigation into Wright began in April 2020 following a third-party referral.

QEH is an independent private boys' school which teaches children between the ages of seven and 18.
