Extra services have been put on by Condor Ferries as its largest vessel remains out of action following a fire.
Passengers were stuck on the Commodore Clipper in Portsmouth on Wednesday, 24 hours after they left Jersey, after a fire began on a vehicle deck.
Soot and water had to be cleared before anyone could leave the boat, which Condor said will not be operational until an investigation has taken place.
The firm said its express ferries and freight ship will run extra crossings.
No passengers or crew were hurt but it is thought the steering was damaged and the ferry was helped in to port by two tugs.
