Family firm in West Yorkshire work on World Cup order

A small family-run clothing business in West Yorkshire is working flat out to finish embroidering the England team's World Cup kit.

International Sports Services in Sowerby Bridge are putting names and numbers on the shirts to be worn by the team in the 2010 World Cup.

Three generations of the Roberts family are working on almost 300 shirts to be shipped out to South Africa by Friday.

Despite being a small firm, the company work on all England's kit.

They have also printed and embroidered shirts for AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Dave Roberts, senior partner at International Sports Services, said all the matches in the cup added up to a lot of shirts.

"For each game each player has two shirts per game," he said.

"There are three qualifying games and then if they progress they need to have shirts.

"As we don't know if they're going to be playing in white or red we've done two sets of white and one set of red, so that amounts to almost 300 shirts."

Mr Roberts' daughter Bernie said she found the job quite mundane, unlike other members of the family.

"The England kits we're doing all year round anyway, it doesn't really faze me, but my sons, they think it's really good," she said.
