EXCLUSIVE: A pair of female-led production houses from Manitoba, Canada, have set in motion a plan to produced scripted TV shows.

Fiasco Global Media and Bonus Production Services will form a strategic alliance to develop and produce a slate of scripted projects that can be carried “across the full production lifecycle.”

Fiasco, which is led by Rumours and Less Than Kind producer Jennifer Beasley, will source, creatively develop, package and market the series, with Bonus contributing production expertize, financing support and exec input. Their plan is for “distinctive” local stories that are developed in the Canadian Prairies.

They say Manitoba has become “one of the most competitive productions hubs in North America” through its flexible tax credit structures, crews, locations and “growing” production infrastructure.

“What immediately stood out was the strength of the Bonus team and the way they approach production,” said Beasley, President and founder of Fiasco. “Bonus has built the kind of production reputation every development company wants beside it.

“They know how to make ambitious work actually happen, creatively, financially and practically. For Fiasco, this alliance gives our development slate a stronger production foundation and a deeper connection to one of the best production ecosystems in Canada.”

Beasley is one of Canada’s most experienced produced, having worked in the biz for more than 25 years on the likes of five seasons of Acting Good, which ranked as one of CTV Comedy Channel’s top originals; CTV’s short-lived drama The Spencer Sisters; and Rumours, the 2025 Cannes feature starring Cate Blanchett, who won a Canadian Screen Award for her performance.

“The team at Fiasco brings a strong development point of view, sharp market instincts and a global perspective,” said Ellen Rutter from Bonus. “They are entertainment-first, collaborative and selective in the best way, with a clear sense of the kinds of series they want to build. For Bonus, this alliance allows us to become more involved in development while bringing our production and financing experience to projects from the beginning.”

Rutter launched Bonus with Carrie Wilkins and Rhonda Baker. They have developed a domestic and international production services business working with financiers, completion bonders and independent producers across Canadian and international production.

Recent credits include the Jon Hamm starrer American Hostage, starring Jon Hamm; Normal, the Bob Odenkirk action thriller released by Magnolia Pictures; November 1963, starring John Travolta and directed by Roland Joffé; Francis Lawrence’s Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk; and Seasons 2, 3 and 4 of Skymed.
