A fire service said this summer's field fire season had begun after it tackled a blaze that was started deliberately.

Crews from Ampthill, Biggleswade, Harrold, Kempston, Leighton Buzzard, Sandy, Shefford and Stopsley attended the incident in Hampshire Way, Luton, at about 16:15 BST on Sunday.

The service attended another fire in Sundon Park Road at 23:45 BST, which it said was also deliberate.

Crews had dealt with a large bonfire in the same location earlier in the day.
