Fifth man charged over Salford shop shooting

A fifth man has been charged in connection with the murder of a shop worker in Salford.

Nasar Hussain, 30, was shot in the chest and stomach at Brookhouse Wines in Winton on 4 July last year.

Arfan Rafiq, 25, of Villa Road, Oldham, has been charged with murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Friday. Four other men have already been charged in connection with the case.

Simeon Henderson, 27, of no fixed abode, Ryan Manning, 21, of Bird Street, Higher Ince, and Mohammed Hafiz, 42, of Woodlands Road, Cheetham Hill, are due to stand trial next month.

Akmal Afzal, 24, of Bradford Road, Bolton, was charged with assisting an offender and possession of a prohibited weapon last month.

Mr Hussain was treated at the shop by police and paramedics before being taken to hospital, but he later died.

The Pakistani national, known locally as Nasar Shazad, had lived in Salford for about six months.
