Nicola Wright, 44, perished when her light aircraft crashed near Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon on Friday in front of horrified onlookers.
She worked as an HR director for Medisave – a company sending vital medical supplies across the country.
Nicola’s friends and family paid tribute to the ‘clever and adventurous’ pilot, who was also an experienced aerobatic pilot, skydiver and mountain climber.
She had completed her first cross country flight last year, according to her social media.
Devon and Cornwall Police said it was working with the Air Accident Investigation Branch and an incident was ongoing.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Police were called shortly after 10am on Friday 26 June following a report of a light aircraft crashing near to Dunkeswell Airfield.
‘We are continuing to work with our colleagues at The Air Accident Investigation Branch.
Superintendent Jo Arundale said: ‘We will be working closely with The Air Accident Investigation Branch to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash this morning.
‘We recognise it is a very sad incident and we are appealing to the public not to speculate regarding the crash.
