Former Chester City Football Club owner Stephen Vaughan has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

Mr Vaughan was charged after a police officer was treated for a fractured cheekbone after an alleged incident at the Jug and Bottle in Heswall, Wirral.

His son, also called Stephen Vaughan, 25, appeared before Wirral Magistrates with him on the same charge.

Both men were bailed to appear before Liverpool Crown Court on 23 September.

A third man charged over the disturbance on 4 April, Paul Garner, 29, from Millfield, Neston, did not appear and his case was adjourned until 2 June.
