Four held over stabbings in Manchester's Chinatown

Four men have been arrested by police investigating a series of stabbings which took place after rival gangs clashed in Manchester's Chinatown.

Police believe up to 20 men were involved in the violence on George Street in the early hours of Wednesday.

Six men were taken to hospital with stab wounds and one 32-year-old man remains in a critical condition.

Four men aged between 22 and 26 have now been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Greater Manchester Police have reassured the community that the stabbings were gang-related and not random attacks on members of the public.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area and a mobile police station has been set up.

Officers who can speak Mandarin and Cantonese are also on hand, police said.
