The funeral has taken place of a rugby league player who died in a car crash in West Yorkshire.

Gareth Swift, 19, a hooker at Featherstone Rovers, was killed when the car he was travelling in with team-mate Charlie Tosh crashed in Normanton.

A funeral service took place at the town's St John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday morning.

Mr Tosh, 19, who plays for the team's reserve side, was seriously injured in the crash.

Featherstone Rovers have set up a tribute area to Mr Swift at their Big Fellas Stadium.

The club's chief executive Andy Prout said the rest of the season would be dedicated to him, with players wearing his number on their shirts.

Mr Tosh suffered severe neck and spinal injuries in the crash on 24 April. Mr Prout said he had been moved from intensive care to a high dependency unit at Leeds General Infirmary.
