Police hunting for missing chef Claudia Lawrence have spent two days searching property in an East Yorkshire village.

Miss Lawrence, who was 35 years old when she went missing, was last seen leaving her workplace in York on 18 March 2009.

Her disappearance is being treated as suspected murder.

North Yorkshire Police said about 20 officers had searched a house and land in Ellerton, near Howden, and removed some items which were being analysed.

The searches, which started on Monday and ended on Tuesday, also involved an underwater search team, who searched culverts which form part of the property.

The force said inquiries were continuing and no arrests had been made.

The house in Ellerton is one of several which have been searched by police during the course of the investigation into Miss Lawrence's disappearance.

The investigation is one of the largest carried out by North Yorkshire Police and has so far cost more than £600,000.
